About Textures 2.1 ...
Long considered to be the standard of the industry, Textures with Synchronicity is now a more powerful and easier to use tool in Textures 2.1. By adding some of the most requested features to its "can do" list, Textures 2.1 brings a new level of elegance and simplicity to the art of typesetting.
With Textures 2.1 Blue Sky continues its tradition of providing advanced technology, improved performance, and easy to use interfaces in response to users requests.
Here is a sample of what's in Textures 2.1
- JPEG output for HTML Web publishers: You can now save any typeset page directly to JPEG format, so TeX generated mathematics can easily be included in your Web pages.
- PDF links: TeX cross reference links in HTML documents are carried over into PDF documents automatically.
- TeX Log error menu: the Marks menu in the TeX Log window automatically collects pointers to errors detected by the TeX processor, so the user can choose any mark to go directly to both the error message (in the TeX Log context) and also to the original source document.
- Interactive external editor interface! Textures 2.1 offers an external interface that allows complete access to all of the interactive features known to Textures users, including including Flash Mode, Synchronicity, Project Master, and more. The editor link in Textures 2.1 provides a first class external editor interface whereby Textures and your favorite editor appear as if they were a single integrated application, nearly seamlessly switching between functions.
- Interface modules are available for both the Alpha editor and the BBEdit editor. Which to choose? It's up to you.
- Alpha provides a powerful programmable editor that you, the user, can customize to your heart's content. Pre-programmed to give you everything (and then some) that you've been asking for in the Textures editor. However, we must warn you that Alpha is a true power user editor, with every bell, whistle, and features galore. It does not take a lot of memory but it requires some serious learning to use it.
- In their own words: "BBEdit is a high-performance text and HTML editor for the Macintosh. BBEdit is designed for the editing, searching, transformation, and manipulation of text. It provides an array of general-purpose features which are useful for many tasks, and includes many features which have been specifically developed in response to the needs of HTML authors and software developers.".
- File access caching is a major performance improvement, especially for LaTeX users. Typesetting is faster because Textures 2.1 retains a memory copy of all file accesses, so that subsequent access to the same files will bypass the disk directory search and immediately go to the desired file. This can speed up processing of many LaTeX documents by a factor of two, sometimes more, eliminating the need to restructure or 'flatten' the directory search tree for speed.
