Installing the Lucida and Lucida Expert Fonts
Several problems with Y&Y's Lucida and Lucida Expert fonts have been found and corrected for Textures implementation.
If you've bought any of the Lucida fonts, you should (re-)install them as follows:
(Note that the folder contains everything you need for both the Lucida and the Lucida Expert fonts except for the postscript fonts. If you have only one of these fonts, install everything anyway; the extra files are benign.)
Known Errors:
1. A problem with the Lucida Bright Expert fonts is that the ligatures (glyphs for the ffi, fi, fl, and ffl character sequences) come out blank on the screen when you use the lucidabr package. A current work around is to use the lucbr package. You need to download the lucbr package from our FTP site and follow the instructions in the "read me" file to use it.
Here is what the lucbr package will look like on the screen:

The ligatures will come out on printout, though.
2. When the Lucida fonts were revised for LucidaNewMathItalic, it was arranged so that there were in fact four styles of this font, now in Roman, Italic, Demibold, and Demi-bold Italic, and that this requires the separate package of Lucida Bright Expert fonts to really work correctly; the older fonts have changed internal styles, so the older pictures don't select the correct font in the new larger family.
What this means: Occasionally, a Lucida problem will crop up that can only be corrected by buying and installing the Lucida expert post script fonts.
We're talking with Y&Y about this problem; hopefully it will be fixed with the next generation of Lucida fonts.
