- We are now beta testing a new Textures Diagnostic. It gives us a better snapshot of your Textures configuration, as well as a better diagnostic of your system. There is even a small help area. You can get it from our FTP server.
- Uwe Schmock updated his AMS-LaTeX Macro Menus. Check out our Tips & Tricks page for more information on how to install and change your macros.
- We fixed the bugs with 2.0.3, as well as the updater problems. You can download the 2.0.4 updater from our FTP site.
- We found a bug with 2.0.3: hyperlinking inside a document does not work. We are working on fixing that bug to make a better update. If you would like to go back to 2.0.2, please reinstall your copy of Textures, use the Textures 2.0.2 updater.
- We have a new 2.0.3 updater on our FTP site (2.0.x -> 2.0.3). This fixes a few bugs and adds a few new features. EPSF illustrations are now clipped to the BoundingBox, as the EPSF specifications request it. EPSF fonts are referenced interally so the "(atend" specifiers download properly. The filenames in UNIX syntax are automatically converted to Macintosh form. The HTML \special syntax now allows for optional spaces between elements.
- The updater to version 2.0.2 no longer requires that the Textures be an activated copy, so if you have the one that gives a TCN 7 error, get the newer one.
- There's a bug in the Textures 2.0 CD's installer. The hide fonts cutsom install option fails to remove the regular font suitcases. To correct this, open your Fonts folder in the System Folder and remove the files AMS/PS Screen Fonts, CM/PS Screen Fonts, Cyrillic Screen Fonts, and LaTeX Screen Fonts. Then restart your computer.
- Textures 2.0 is done! And we're shipping starting today. The CDs look great, except for one little flaw.... there are two extra files on the desktop ("linky" and "linky.aux") which somehow got past us. Whoops! At least there's nothing bad in them ;-)
- An embarrassment of riches! AMS Metrics galore! Two more sets, from Simon Cao and from Uwe Schmock. You'll find them in the fonts area.
- More AMS metrics! Art Ogawa has put together a fixed set of AMS virtual font metrics without the scaling problems and including a few missing sizes. So you don't need to use the [psamsfonts] option if you don't want to.
- Art's put together a LaTeX (version R8P2... will they never stop? :-) for us, and I'll put it in the LaTeX2e folder as soon as I can. Testing is needed! Please check it out and let us know if you find any problems.
- Eric Lammerling of Adobe systems told me at a Mac show in town that we could put the Adobe Acrobat Reader software on our ftp server and on our CD, so I did and I will. It's up there now, in /pub/3rd.party.unsupported.
- Head on over to the utilities folder to pick up the latest improved versions of the Textures Reader and MathSet Viewer applications.
- Bruno Voisin found and fixed a couple of bugs in our AMS/PS metrics. I've put his new version of the regular metrics and the hidefont metrics up on our ftp server. I haven't thoroughly tested them, but they look okay...
- With the able help of Texpert Art Ogawa we found a bug in our LaTeX2e distribution, version R7P0. We think it only affects the 68K versions, so this will only come up on older Macs or with non-PPC Textures. The problem is the file latex.ltx, which somehow got an extra carriage return. I've altered the LaTeX R7P0 package, made a new fat format file, and I put up the correct latex.ltx file if you'd like to put it into your LaTeX2e sources folder.
- In some sets of Lucida Bright Mac Metrics, the italic bit is checked for the font metrics lbc, lbh, and lbsl (Lucida Calligraphic, Handwriting, and Slant respectively). This can make the screen fonts look like little squares. If you have this problem you can either use EdMetrics to edit the metrics suitcase, or download the modified metrics (together with screen fonts) from our ftp server.
