Plain TeX example

Here's a little snippet of code to try out. If it works, your Textures is doing at least something right. This same test can be useful for printing tests and display tests.

  1. Setup: Make a new document (Choose "New" from the file menu). Save it as "testing" on your desktop.
  2. Under the typeset menu, pick "Plain", and also turn on "Flash Mode". (It's a toggle-item; if it has a check by it, then it is on.)
  3. Paste the following code into the "testing" window:

    \nopagenumbers
    \font\test=cmdunh10 at 23.3pt
    \test
This is Computer Modern Dunhill. It's a fine distinctive
font, with very tall risers relative to the ``x'' height.
    \bye
  4. A typeset window will come into view somewhere on your screen. You can click into it to see it, or choose "testing typeset" from the Windows menu.

You should see the sample text from the example typeset in Computer Modern Dunhill. It's a distinctive font, and should be easy to tell if it's right or not. You may want to see a picture.

If it didn't work you may need installation help. If it crashes, you may need crash help. If it works, makes a typeset window, but looks bad, you may need fonts help.
